Today we woke up and had a weird feeling. We both realised that this project has almost come to an end. Both happiness and sadness struck us today. We are happy to have been part of this amazing project, being able to meet new people and experiencing new things! But we're sad too because this experience we will never forget, is almost over.
Today, just like every other day, we walked up to our bus stop a couple minutes away and were waiting for the bus. As we were waiting we were talking about the fact that it was weird, realising you were probably standing here for the last time during this project. The last time making your way to go to your work. Our bus was too late and we were worried we would be late on our last day of work. All of a sudden this giant double-decker bus pulls up and we hop on. We had never seen this kind of bus at our bus stop before but we didn't think much of it at the time. The bus took the exact same way we normally take to get to work until it suddenly turned right instead of going straight ahead. We ended up in front of Portsmouth College, a 50 min walk to our work... We phoned up Charles, our 'boss', and he was so kind to come and pick us up. We started our last day at work full of challenges.
By lunch time Mrs Lissens and Mrs Thoné arrived at the WW1 Remembrance Centre to come and take a look at our work placement. We gave them and Michelle from IBD a tour along the museum, telling them interesting little stories and providing them of a whole new angle about the first World War. We hope they enjoyed it and that they will remember bits and pieces from the stories we have learned from Charles.
We it was 3 o'clock and the museum shut it's doors, we realised that it would be the end of our last day at the museum that has got a special place in our hearts. Not only has the museum got a special place but also everyone who is part of the museum, definitely Charles. He has become a dear friend of ours and we are already planning on meeting up with him! We both are eternally grateful to have met such amazing and passionate people, ('the gang' better known as our now English family.),who have been nothing but kind to us. We will never forget them nor the museum and we will definitely be back!
Like Charles told us when he dropped us off at the bus stop, this is not a goodbye and we will see each other soon!
Thank you.
