Special British habits & 'Culture Shock'

One of the British habits is always saying 'thank you' to the bus driver when you get of the bus. Another one is going to the pubs. There are a lot of them here in England. Also going out to eat breakfast and/or lunch is a habit here too.

As for the 'culture shock', those are things like driving on the left side of the road, the politeness and the curfew for minors in pubs.

One thing about sitting in a car or bus that drives on the other side of the road is something you'll not get used to in this short period, especially when you grew up with driving on the right side of the road. We also have to look right first and then left when we want to cross the street, which Anelle found very difficult to learn.

The politeness of the British people is very different from Belgian people. They say 'thank you' and 'sorry' all the time even when they're good at something, they say 'sorry'.

The curfew for minors in pubs is 9pm, After that they ask your ID, even when you order some soda. This is to prevent older people buying drinks for minors after the curfew. but even when you do that, the older person and the minor can go to jail. When you're with a group of mixed ages, some over 18 and some under 18, the whole group has the leave. This is just to make it fair to everyone.
